JANUARY • | Abbey United (A) | Sunday 24 January Abbey United 2 Welsh Tavern Reserves 3 Premier Division Half Time 0-2 Welsh Tavern Reserves: Scamp, Tinsley, Jones, Hergest, D.Chambers, Longhurst, Ashdown, Apps, J.Chambers, Rains (D.Webb), Wise, Sub Not Used: Finch Reserves stroll on!!. The reserves secured another important win at a canter against there closest rivals for the league title!! Leaving us as the only unbeaten team from the top 2 divisions! We started well passing the ball around at pace and exposing the obvious weaknesses in the oppositions defence, with wisey looking dangerous we concentrated on feeding him! And it wasn't long before we took the lead with wisey stroking home from a tight angle to put us in front. The lead was soon doubled with Jay Chambers tapping home after good build up play. Just before the break DC went on a mazy run from centre half taking on 17 players before firing just over from 30 yards it would of undoubtedly been goal of the season but for a poor pass from webby. Half time came with us well in control and looking good. The second half kicked off in a similar fashion with us creating chances but not converting them!! We were always comfortable against a lacklustre abbey attack and stood strong whatever they threw at us, appsy scored what seemed to be the game decider mid way through the half with a magnificent volley from 30 yards leaving the keeper grasping at thin air!! Then inexplicably abbey got back into the game and scored 2 goals but they turned out to be in vain as we hung on for a well deserved victory! So we march on relentless in our quest for trophies confident that whoever is putting in front of we'll beat!! Long live the ressies!!
