Reserves steam on!!.

The reserves secured another comfortable victory this week although the 2-1 result flattered there opponents Welling united! Welling took the lead early on through a sloppy goal with the welsh surrendering possession 3 times in the build up to the goal!! We were creating chances more at less at will with beatts and dc dominating in midfield and we all knew it wouldn't be long before the equaliser came. It did however take 2 great saves from John"inspector gadget"Scamp to stop Welling increasing there lead, so the half time whistle came with missed chances again being our worst enemy!! The second half started with Welling on top but not really threatening! then about 10 mins after the restart DC provided a Rory Delap style throw in from the left and johnny ash tucked home from a ridiculously tight angle!! With the equaliser in the bag we pressed on for the win and were dominating which was all the more surprising as we were kicking in to a gale force wind and it was up hill!! The deciding goal came midway through the half with Jason Chambers toe punting home over the on rushing goal keeper!! Welling pressed for the equaliser but never threatened and with the monk in goal never really stood any chance of scoring anyway!! So a massive win was secured with relative ease and the glory train rolls on! The side is going from strength to strength and with players still to come back things are looking good the manager celebrated the win by getting on the sauce with DC and Deano and was given a lesson in how to treat women by DC which I'm sure he'll take on board and follow from now on!!. The date of the night out has changed to friday the 13th and its more or less guaranteed that you'll get bingo bongo'd so make the effort and get yourself out!! Like I said everyone's invited even the coffin dodgers! Venues are being mentioned but its not yet decided any suggestions are welcome.
Sunday 18 October
Welsh Tavern Reserves 7 Hope and Glory 3
Premier Division
Half Time 3-0
Welsh Tavern Reserves: Houckham, B.Webb (Rhodes), Jones, Hergest,Proberts, Huffer, D. Chambers, Thomson (Wright),
Apps, J. Chambers, Ashdown (Wise).

Reserves march on! with a Jason Chambers hat-trick.

The reserves secured yet another comprehensive 7-4 victory against hope and glory this week. The game started well with Darren 'lazy boy' Thompson pulling the strings in midfield the chances were being created with ease and it wasn't long before the welsh were 1 up with Jason Chambers lobbing the keeper from 20 yards, it wasn't long before the second came when Clayton Proberts scored from 8 yards although how he's claiming it only he knows as it took 14 deflections on its way in!!! the welsh then somehow survived a cast iron penalty appeal when Dan Houckham wiped out the centre forward but the referee waved away the appeals and the welsh consequently went down the other end and went 3-0 up through a Jason Chambers header, there was still time in the first half for Dan to pull off what can only be described as a worldy when he tipped one over right out of the top corner!!. So 3-0 up at half time and cruising the manager passed on his wisdom but whatever he said must of gone in one ear and out the other!! The half started disastrously with H&G pulling a goal back early and pressing for more things were looking dodgy but an inspired substitution from Duncan'ossie ardiles' Finch bringing Wisey on swang the game back in the welsh's favour as Daryl Apps crossed from the right for Wisey to score with his second touch!! Then an inexplicable wobble occurred as H&G scored to take the score to 4-2 we were then helped out when the opposition's Caribbean right back scored a 20 yard headed own goal which was a shame as he had been magnificent throughout the game! There was even talk of Finchy signing him up as a replacement for Ben' treacle' Webb! So with the game now at 5-2 it looked dead and buried but we like to keep the crowd entertained and let H&G back into the game with 2 sloppy goals!! So with 10 mins left a few people were starting to get twitchy bum holes on the line!! But Wisey put them at ease with excellent wing play down the left nutmegging the fat Gary Coleman before laying thr perfect ball for the goal machine Jason Chambers to wrap up his hat-trick with a scuffed finish! There was still time for Appsy to get himself on the score sheet after he showed blistering pace and brutish strength to leave the defence trailing in his wake before smashing in to seal the victory. So the glory train marches on and with 27 goals scored in 5 games things are looking good. On a different note we're organising a night out for the 30th of october not sure where the venue will be yet but you can be sure it will be messy everyone's invited so if your interested speak to Duncan or DC.
Sunday 10 October
Welsh Tavern Reserves 4 Footscray Lions 1
Premier Division
Half Time 2-0
Welsh Tavern Reserves: Houckham, B.Webb, Munn, Hergest, Wise, D.Chambers, Beattie, Huffer, J.Chambers (D.Webb),
Apps (Finch), Ashdown (K.Webb).

Apps inspires reserves to victory.

The reserves secured a deserved victory this week against a strong Footscray lions side thanks largely to a rejuvenated Daryl Apps who scored 2 and set up 2! The game started badly when Footscray went into an early lead through a bullet header from 8 yards, but then the tide slowly turned with the welsh gaining control of the midfield and consequently the match! Appsy was starting to influence proceedings more and more and teed up Jason Chambers for the equaliser with excellent work on the right wing. The half time whistle came with the welsh well on top and looking strong. The second half couldn't have started better when after 5 mins Appsy struck an absolute rocket into the top corner off of his shin pad!! We were now creating chances and looking dominant the only danger was the opposition's counter attacks which were dealt with without much duress. Midway through the half the game was put to bed when Appsy teed up George Huffer for the killer 3rd goal, Footscray were visibly deflated and looked resigned to defeat!! The game was put to bed completely 5 mins from time when Darren Chambers played the pass of the match to set up Appsy for an exquisite chip from 20 yards the pass was described by the manager as tear inducing it was so beautiful! The result and performance were however marred by a horrific injury to Kevin Webb 10 mins from time who we all wish a speedy recovery.
