Yesterday
7 August  2005:
Welsh Tavern v Welsh Tavern The new season is nearly upon us and it's now about getting the boys together, regrouping and going on a big trophy hunt this season. There has been plenty of movement/changes going on over the summer, especially on the management side of things. With Sir Gary Cherry stepping down, Cliffy and Jona will be having more of an input in the reserves, along with the regular faces of Noddy, Seamus, Churchy, John The Eagle, etc. On the first team front, the retirement of 'The Wand' means 'Bellaldo' and 'The Form' will now have someone along side them who knows what they're talking about. If you've been reading teletext regularly over the pre-season, you will have seen that we've been very active in the transfer market. A few players are yet to put pen to paper, however, with the contracts on offer (Mini Cheddars, Cheese, Chips and now Peanuts), it looks as if it is only a matter of time before the deals are finalised. WATCH THIS SPACE. Plenty of new boys were on show for the first 11-aside run out of the season, add to that the mixture of talent the club already has at its disposal and the future is definitely looking bright. There was Dean Tinsley looking like Franco Baresi/ Paolo Maldini at the back, Ian White (best Centre Forward in Europe) looked like he'd never stopped playing, however, the highlight of the day had to be the return of the prodigal son 'Trevor Hand'. Vision, Bite, Pace, Stamina, etc. Trevor's nine month old son was introduced to the boys at half time, so it's clear to see that the Welsh Tavern Academy is definitely looking after the future of the club. Trevor's lad did manage to mutter a few gurgles and blas, making more sense in those few seconds than his old man has done over the last fifteen years. He probably already has more ability than his Dad as well!!! Bring on the new season. Lets get this glory train back back on track!!

Ian Shepherd Trophy
31 July  2005:
Today there was a 5-A-Side tournement for the trophy at goals today with Belly's Boys beating Raspberry Rupples 6-2 in the final with the Belly scoring a hat-trick with me Noddy refreeing the final.
